FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What is form of business organization does edaption have?
We are a C corporation, incorporated in the State of Texas.

2. How long has edaption been in business?
The company was incorporated in 1996. At that time, the principal founders averaged over twelve years experience in the Information Technology industry and averaged over five years specifically providing services on a consulting basis.

3. Does edaption carry liability insurance?
We carry a multi-million dollar general liability policy as well as commercial auto coverage for the protection of our clients.

4. What type of screening does edaption perform before an applicant is hired?
Our hiring process contains several checks to evaluate a candidate's knowledge and ability to perform to our standards. We conduct administration of technical tests, evaluations of personality and team fit, and investigation of references and employment histories. Furthermore, we have successfully implemented our procedure for clients to help them build self-sufficient development teams.

5. How large is edaption?
Since we are privately held, we do not release specific numbers in terms of revenue or employment. However, our emphasis is not on loading a project with as many bodies as possible. Our focus is on providing elite technical consultants that can use the latest Java and J2EE technologies to build the highly specialized solutions our clients require.

6. Why is edaption so interested in providing Java solutions?
The Java programming language was launched with great fanfare and promise. While it may not always live up to its supposed potential in every regards, it has proven itself as a legitimate technology suited to solving many of today's critical business problems. We believe Java will continue to grow in importance due to additional functionality, growing compatibility and integration with tools and existing systems, and continuing efforts to improve performance. While we recognize that Java cannot be the right solution for every job, we have found it provides an efficient and economical platform for the majority of the problems we encounter.

7. Can edaption provide non-Java based solutions?
Many of our consultants are skilled in areas outside Java, so we can provide solutions using other technologies. However, since these technologies are not our primary competency, we would use them only as part of a larger implementation based on Java. We have good relationships with firms that do not focus on Java and can provide referrals for projects that we are not equipped to handle.

8. Can edaption provide someone on a contract-to-hire basis?
We can provide a client with the right to convert any of our consultants to permanent employees, but both the client and consultant must accept any such conversion. We specifically select individuals that have demonstrated the unique set of skills, desire, and integrity required to be a successful consultant. Therefore, it is rare that any of our consultants choose to leave us for a position with a client.

9. My company is new to Java; can edaption help?
We have successfully helped clients understand the changes required to move to new technologies such as Java and Object Oriented Development. Key issues to be addressed include training, planning, and technology selection. A concerted commitment must be made by any client wanting to make a successful move to this arena, and we can help support this commitment and ease the transition.

10. Why can't my company just find its own developers to hire?
The IT industry has changed over the past few years. The continuing shortage of skilled developers has been well documented in many studies and articles. The increasing demand for these resources has complicated the efforts of many organizations to implement critical business initiatives. Many developers, realizing their newfound leverage, are seeking positions on their terms. Money alone is often not enough to acquire the right people. Professional respect, increased training, ability to work with leading edge technologies, and a variety of job perks are now required to interest new applicants. Many organizations find the effort required is taxing beyond their abilities. That is why so many of clients find that allowing us to provide critical development services is more cost effective and less stressful than trying to build larger in house staffs.
